i’m not sure why i waited so long to read this but as we all know ms. rooney never misses !!!!! one of the things i love most about her books is how seriously she takes relationships (of all kinds not just romantic). beautiful world where are you is a meditation on climate change, societal collapse, and the love of other people that gets us through it all. why shouldn’t examining the pursuit of love and the act of it be artistically serious? personally i don’t want to be a part of a world where we don’t think the act of loving is a worthy pursuit. the theme of love was much larger in bwway than her other novels, but i also understand that when she was writing it we were experiencing a global pandemic (and still are) and maybe that theme needed to be a bit more heavy handed in that moment. so yeah of course i loved it i would read her grocery lists!!
