This book is a slooooow burn. Probably the least-spicy of any Saxenverse books I've read. It made sense though, although I do think the plot was drawn out too long.
I loved that Derek (finally) held strong boundaries - Xander needed someone to push him to get help. The first 6 month gap made sense and clearly they both needed it. I could have punched Derek when his first thought at seeing Xander laugh when he got back was "he's better off without me" because SIR you never dated! There was no "with you" to compare! But that was a quick scene and resolved immediately.
I loved the ending, it did make me tear up a bit to see all of Bertha's boys happy. And the ending with Seven and Molly was so lovely - you know from their book that they were all-in for Xander, and Derek's support of that was well done.
