As someone who loves Edgar Allan Poe and is also wary about all the different retellings and explorations of classics, this one.... This one surprised me. At first it was a fun ride. It quickly took a spiral into heart wrenching betrayal and loss, and I am SO stoked (and kind of devastated) by how fantastically this was pulled off.

I've been on a book buying ban to catch up on books I own first.... But I'm buying the sequel tomorrow.
