mmokler 's review for:
Me Talk Pretty One Day
by David Sedaris
Eh. It was okay. It felt dated to me and I suspect I would have liked it a great more in its time.
Me Talk Pretty One Day is a collection of chapters and stand up from comedian David Sedaris. It is at once honest and silly and humorous. He covers topics from childhood stutters to language barriers to people-people interactions.
Read by the author, which I loved.
Recommended for perhaps an older audience who can appreciate some of the dated material more than I could.
Warnings:
TW: LGBTQ in an age of judgement
Language: Yes. There was a lot of it but it was handled with a kind of brevity that I didn’t really notice it.
Violence: Some circus animal cruelty. Think: Running of the bulls.
Sex: Not really, although talked around.
Drugs: Yes. Smoking in particular. Some mention of drugs, particularly marijuana.
ETA: It’s very possible I simply don’t like audiobooks.
