Sweet Lamb of Heaven by Lydia Millet
2.0
The book is two in one. One book is a thriller about a sociopath hunting down his wife and daughter. The sociopath has almost limitless power and ability. The wife is trapped. There is no way out (until the deus ex machina ending).
The other book is about a group of disparate individuals who come together after they hear voices when they're not supposed to. What are these voices saying? Why do they say it? Is it God???
Why these two books have been jammed in together, I never really discovered, but I may have missed it because I started skipping through the voices to get to the thriller bit. Neither particularly satisfied. The characters were paper dolls being moved around to suit the plot. As a reading experience, one star, with an additional star given to the competency of the writing.
