I liked the first book, it gave me certain expectations and the next two books did not live up to them. It’s like we started with X Files and somehow it turned into a tela novela soap opera. I wanted more of survival and learning about her abilities and how the Changed worked and kept changing and how it all happened and why, but instead we got WAY TOO MANY CHARACTERS TO KEEP STRAIGHT (the only likable ones being Greg, Pru, and Jayden in my opinion) and stupid people’s drama instead of scifi. This series reminds me of the tv show Lost, so full of promise, then kind of annoying but you grit your teeth and bear it because you WANT TO KNOW, but then the ending comes and you’re like … what? I didn’t care about twins separated at birth because of an affair, why would I care about that when there are cannibals? I don’t care about stupid Penny setting a boat on fire and getting a girl killed and herself pregnant or whatever the hell was going on, not when there are people with superpowers. I don’t care about human grudges and taking over other people’s towns WHEN THERE ARE FREAKING CANNIBALS AND SUPER HUMANS!!!!
And we also have these weird sidebar items like the wolves and the island and studies in mushrooms that you think are going to turn into something but just don’t. Also, from all the many migraines Greg was having I just know he was getting super powers but we don’t get to hear about it.
