Great Expectations by Charles Dickens

Besides A Christmas Carol, I had never read any Dickens novels so didn’t know what to expect when I opened this book for my English module this semester. I really enjoyed it—Dickens’ writing is so detailed & descriptive that the story comes alive and you feel swept up into an interesting world of escaped convicts, mysterious benefactors, and a boy trying to find his place in the world. I found Great Expectations to still be relevant today as a bildungsroman.
