The Renegade Dragon by Irene Radford

3.0

I hesitate to call this a traditional fantasy, especially since elements of science fiction that have “lurked” or been hinted at in previous books of this series were made explicit in this book. Yet it feels very traditional, with power hungry villains, female characters with power who are reliant on the men in their lives, apprentices who are forced to mature quickly to save the day, etc.

Still, there are enough interesting characters (and dragons!) that it was OK. Not great, not bad, but OK.
