Excuse me while I gush. I'm not entirely sure why I found this book so delightfully fantastic, but I did. It might have been timing, I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to laze about in bed and read this book all day, which is a total slice of heaven even when the book does not leave me grinning ear to ear. However, I think it is likely the characters that I love. What I wouldn't give to have a Lincoln, a Beth or a Jennifer in my life. I totally have a new, odd, funny, cute book boyfriend. Lincoln was certainly quirky, but he was also a pretty refreshing male character. He was nerdy, he played Dungeons and Dragons, he likened bars to hell, he lived with him Mom, he was deliciously handsome and still super awkward. Frankly, I'm upgrading him to book husband. I must put a ring on that. I loved the relationship between Beth and Jennifer. They were good friends to each other, they were funny and real. The characters were fantastic and realistic, and made this book for me.
I really enjoyed the alternating looks into Beth and Jennifer's lives via their emails, and Lincoln's life. This book is a quick read and my attention never flagged, possibly, because the chapters were quite short and kept flipping to a different POV, which meant I simply had to keep reading to see what happened next. It was a delicious loop.
Anyway, I rarely give out 5 star ratings, but I really liked the characters in this book and it was such a fun, sweet read that I can't help myself. This author is absolutely on my to-read list.
