A slow burn with beautifully written prose. Truly a unique story and unlike anything I've read before. More of an exploration of grief in a horror setting than an actual horror novel. Leah's climactic submarine scene was really gripping.

It did take me a long time to finish such a short book. It was boring in parts and overly detailed. Miri is a cold and distant narrator, which makes it hard to connect with the characters and share in their grief.
