Definitely less driving than the previous book. There isn't one overarching problem that brings the whole book together and definitely feels like two separate plots.
The first half was less than invigorating, and it is about Nari's teachers being a dick to her.
Then there is lots of smut.
Then the second half is a far more engaging and about Darkest Night, with Ela facing the darker parts of himself and Nari doing some political navigation with Talin's family.
I will say there is, however, 15 chapters of straight smut tho, so worth it just for that.
