The Princess Diarist by Carrie Fisher
3.0

I liked this book well enough. It was about Carrie Fisher's affair with Harrison Ford on the set of Star Wars. By far the most interesting, frustrating, and disgusting part was her describing how her affair began with Ford. Harrison Ford, a married 35 year old man, basically took advantage of a drunk teenage girl. I am not saying anything about their long term relationship. She certainly had agency in her decision to continue to be with him, but that first night they were together she was drunk out of her mind. Harrison even acknowledged that she was not in an position to be making decisions for herself let alone consenting! Yet that didn't stop him in the slightest. Gross, verging on rape-y. Granted we only get Carrie's perspective about that particular situation (obviously); however, I do not see how getting Harrison's side could change the fact that he took advantage of a 19 year old.
The rest of the book was alright. The actual diary portion was tedious and boring. I do not like poetry, and 19 year old Carrie saw her self as a budding poet/writer (as teenagers do). It was a struggle to read most of it. But there were bits of gold in there like her description of Harrison Ford, " Silence speaks louder than words - it screams, "BORING!" He's boring and tries to make it look more like a decision than an accident."
