I gave up. Perhaps the fault lay with me, for trying to consume these all at once, rather than as occasional nuggets. But there is so little variation in style and themes that my appetite for more flagged rapidly. I’m pleased to be acquainted with Chekhov, but don’t feel the desire to read more.
