I Want to Die but I Want to Eat Tteokbokki
by Baek Se-hee
informative
reflective
medium-paced
Picked this book up at the library because the title peaked my interest. TBH, I wish I would have left it on the shelf.
The book is literally transcripts of 3 months of therapy sessions with some loose chapters at the end. It's coined as part memoir and part self-help, but I found it to be neither? The book lacks any depth - both in reflection from author and also in seeking mental health support. At the end of the 3 month session the author says "everything is a mess" implying that things are worse than when she started, and I fully understand given the shit therapy advice received of how to avoid her problems.
The book was transcribed to English so maybe some of the language/message was lost in translation. Luckily this was a short read because otherwise it likely would've been a DNF.
