Letters from Paris by Juliet Blackwell
4.0
I bought this book last summer after reading another book set in Paris that I couldn’t put down (The Light of Paris... read it now). Never got around to reading it last summer, so when I picked it up a year later I totally forgot what the premise was. At first I was hesitant since the story is not my usual, but I’ve had good luck with stories set in Paris, so I cracked it. This book is an excellent combination of not sugary chick lit mixed with a little intrigue. The characters are likable, which is huge for me. It follows the style of each chapter being from a character’s POV, which I find more interesting than your standard storytelling technique. I did predict a couple things fairly early on, but if the story is told in an interesting way and is still compelling, I don’t tend to care. And in this instance, I didn’t. If you’re interested in a little bit of history, in characters seeking to find themselves in glamorous cities, in complex family stories, in atypical professions, and like just enough intrigue, then I would recommend this book for you.
