South and West: From a Notebook by Joan Didion

I adore Didion's writing, and some of these sentences are breathtaking. I understand this is simply a book of notes on two articles that were never completed. While her observations of travel in the south hold acuity, her tone is sometimes deprecating in circumstances that do not warrant, and yet, she remains more objective in questionable scenes.
