Love. So nostalgic for me that I’m not sure if my rating is entirely accurate, but it is true that these books revolutionized teen dystopians. I love them and the story and characters are all pretty good - Katniss’s experiences with trauma are refreshingly genuine. Writing needs work. Maybe it’s because it’s a YA, but Collins is no miracle worker with her prose. To enjoy this book, you have to look past that and focus on the story.
