Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens

5.0

For me this book was well worth the hype! I didn’t want to put it down but also didn’t want it to end. The story follows a shocking murder in the town and also Kya who has always lived alone in the marsh and who was involved with the victim.
The story follows two timelines, the detectives trying to find out who killed the man and Kya as she grows up in the marsh completely isolated until she meets a boy she bonds with.

I can understand why people find the start of the book quite slow but I for one enjoyed the beginning as we got to know Kya and see how she grew up and how she got to where she is as an adult. I enjoyed the romance so much it was definitely one of my favourite aspects of the book. It was also interesting to try to work out who the murderer was, I had multiple different theories. I loved this book and can’t wait to read it again in the future and am very excited for the movie, hopefully they do it justice!
