Fast Asleep: How to Get a Really Good Night's Rest by Michael Mosley

4.0

I read this in tribute to the recently deceased author who was a charismatic, wonderful human being, a great broadcaster and commentator, and an accomplished medical professional. Very sad he died so suddenly and prematurely.

Sleep is an issue I have been battling with since having children. It never used to be a problem for me, but since having very screamy babies who only ever slept in fits and starts (especially the firstborn), I have become a light sleeper who struggles going to sleep and more importantly, staying asleep. I have tried many of the conventional tips already (pertaining to caffeine, no drinking anything past 8 pm to avoid toilet needs during the night, exercise, magnesium etc), but it was really good to revisit some of these in such an accessible, succinct style, and I think I am going to book mark his website for quick reference, too. Also, now that he has died, it was really comforting to hear his lovely voice again - he will be much missed, not only by his family, but by everyone who used to listen to or watch his programmes.
