An Astronaut's Guide to Life on Earth: What Going to Space Taught Me about Ingenuity, Determination, and Being Prepared for Anything by Chris Hadfield
4.0
Obviously I had to read the book by the star of this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KaOC9danxNo and of one of the best episodes of Fresh Air that's ever kept me sitting in a parked car (http://www.npr.org/2013/10/30/241830872/astronaut-chris-hadfield-brings-lessons-from-space-down-to-earth ). While I wished parts of the book with generic "stay positive" type advice would hurry up and get back to what peeing in space is like, I still enjoyed the whole package. Commander Hadfield is accomplished and fascinating, and somehow still humble. One of my favorite parts of his story is how driven he is. Even though Canada didn't have a space program when he was a kid, he did everything with the question, "What would an astronaut do now?" in mind. (Would an astronaut watch TV or read a book?) Truly inspiring. I might just start asking myself WWCHD: What would Chris Hadfield do? (It's already gotten me to the gym! Where can I buy the bracelet?)
