Jaded by Lex Easton

Don’t let the adorable cover fool you, this book is a lot more than just a cute hockey romance. It touches on serious subjects such as mental health, single parenthood, insecurities, and giving up one’s dream. Olli, the new captain of Day River’s failed hockey team is kind, driven, and a truly lovable character. Behind all his smiles and determination to do his best, he is battling with dark days, just like Nat, the hardworking ex-hockey player who only cares for his teen daughter’s future now. While he gave up his dream of becoming a professional player a long time ago, he cannot walk away from the game … even if the only one he is playing right now is brutal and bloody, in the secret underbelly of Day River. On the surface, these two could not be more different … but Olli’s shy, ever-positive personality calls for Nat like a siren song. Seeing his town through the eyes of possibilities as Olli discovers it starts something new for Nat, something wonderful. We spend a lot of time in their heads as Olli and Nat slowly become friends and eventually more, re-evaluate their dreams, deal with domestic emergencies, and fight for a better future for themselves, their families, and the whole town. I enjoyed this slow burn sport romance and I'm very intrigued to see who will get their story next.

I was fortunate to receive a copy of this book from the author via GRR, and this is my honest review.
