The Gathering Storm by Charles Soule

3.0

I really disliked the first volume of Poe Dameron, so my expectations were low for volume two. Surprisingly, this book was quite an improvement over the first. It's still all a bit inconsequential, but the story stays focused on a limited scope of action-scene narrative, and it's pretty good for a Star Wars graphic novel. I was glad that there was no giant monster egg worship, or any of the un-Star Wars-y ancient alien tech that's shown up in Doctor Aphra recently. I was disappointed to see a bizarre call-back to a character from Chuck Wendig's dreadful Aftermath novels.
