Tongues of Serpents by Naomi Novik
3.0

I read this first in 2017 and thought this felt like a sort of in-between book. Not a lot really happens, apart from some political machinations and their journey throughout Australia. I did like that more this time around, after reading several other fiction books set in the Australian outback and red desert. But apart from that, I'm not sure this book adds a lot to the story. It does explain Laurence and Temeraire's standing within the corps and how everyone feels about them. But I think this is my least favourite of the series so far and as I liked the others better after a reread, this one stayed pretty much unchanged. My kiddo is also having trouble getting into it I think (he says not) because he's reading more slowly than usual. I can't wait to continue though, because I know it only gets better from now on!
