The Twisted Ones by T. Kingfisher

4.0

The plot to this book is very similar to the other T. Kingfisher book I've read, A House With Good Bones. This one scared me less than A House With Good Bones but I made sure to read this one when the sun was up!

I liked the main character 's voice better than the narrator in A House With Good Bones. I also think Foxy and I respond similarly to emergencies. I enjoyed her character and Enid, the Goth barista. I do think Kingfisher tells rather than shows in her writing. Some of Mouse's internal flow of consciousness felt unnecessary. Overall though, this author writes books I can't put down. They are genuinely scary. I enjoy learning about the inspirations for her books too. I love folklore and early horror and she does a great job of weaving themes from both in while still writing fresh stories.

I will be reading more from her.
