Matilda by Roald Dahl
4.0

Sabrina really liked the beginning of the book (describing precocious Matilda who is a lot like her), and the end, where all the bad adults get their comeuppance or exit the scene. But I had forgotten how much of this book is just adults abusing kids. Literally chapters and chapters full of adults behaving badly and throwing epithets left and right. Sabrina felt a little uncomfortable and was sad that people were so mean to kids. I think The Witches and James and the Giant Peach were a little bit easier to stomach because the bad adults weren’t the entire focus.
