If you have read the shadow and bone series you will also know how boring it was. Six of Crows is like a redemption of Leigh Bardugo and today I'm going to give you three reason why it is.And also explain how this was the book that pulled me out a reading slump.
First off every crow is a lovable character. They have very tragic backstories which explains most of their actions. My favorite backstory is Kaz Brekkers because it shows that he's really not a villain when he lost his brother Jordie, he had to make a way for himself in a place that was dangerous so what else was kaz suppose to do. His brother's death also makes Kaz want revenge especially on a man named Pekka Rollins, this is the man who conned his brother with a nice family man act. This leads Kaz to always want revenge on Pekka but he wanted to make sure he was the person who did and he wanted to do it right. This is why I love Kaz Brekkers backstory the most and one of the reason I love the book.
Second reason before reading this book I read the shadow and bone trilogy. (Also watch the show on Netflix it is so good). When I read shadow and bone I had already brought Six of Crows.I got to chapter nineteen before I decided to not finish the book then I picked up Six of Crows because I had heard so many good reviews about it and when I tell you I was not disappointed at all.I honestly think that if you want to start the Grishaverse series then you should start with Six of Crows and Crooked Kindom and then readv the trilogy on your own time.
Third rthe reason is that I love the romance in this book every pair has chemistry and some are of the pairs are weird but they work.Jesper and Wylan are a good example of a weird but interesting romance.Jesper is mean and flirts with Wylan while he just sits there and blushes or often responds with a comeback. My favorite of his is on page 362:
”If only you could talk to girls in equations.”
There was a long silence, and then, eyes trained on the notch they'd created in the link, Wylan said, ”Just girls?”
Jesper restrained a grin.” No.Not just girls.”
I was in a bad reading slump before Six of Crows when I was reading I couldn't put it down it was a fun adventure and it took me on a roller coaster of emotions but at the end, I enjoyed it so would I recommend this book most definitely.
