Kissen, a godkiller, finds herself on a pilgrimage to a fallen city with her charge: Inara who has somehow ended up bound to a god. What could go wrong?
Despite being packed full of adventure, mishaps and danger, there was something very comforting in this read, could be the D&D quest vibe to it as suggested by a friend.
It’s a relatively short read but at no point does it feel rushed and I feel we had plenty of time to really connect either the characters and there was a great cast of characters, even their horse had my heart.
There were times were I didn’t trust anyone and times I thought I had it all sussed (I didn’t) and that’s really all you can ask for in an adventure.
I loved the development of relationships within this story, while there are some romantic elements; there is no love story in the romantic sense but Inara and kissen connecting through their adventure was really beautiful to see and I feel that by the end, all of our characters had shown growth and improvement.
A fantastic first instalment and I can’t wait for the next.
