The Watchmaker of Filigree Street
by Natasha Pulley
I definitely enjoyed this book. It had a bit of magical realism to it. I want to know more about Mori. I seriously want my own clockwork octopus. I started out liking Grace, and the way she was trying to live her dream of being a scientist in spite of being a woman. But, in the end, she's not a very likable person. She's self-centered and not above using people for her own ends. She also if pitifully unable to comprehend emotions and people's motivations. That character flaw leads to a rather momentous decision that left me a bit stunned.
I don't often set aside time to read adult fiction - too much YA to try to keep up with. But in this case, I'm glad I did.
