Tess is an unmitigated idiot. That said, the character development and story have so many inconsistencies that it's impossible for me to take the story seriously. The (anti-)hero is all over the place, the heroine can't decide what the hell she's doing or what the hell she wants in either of her 'relationships' and if I never hear the name Brax again, it will be too soon.
This is far more angsty than dark and I'm over female characters who can't own their shit. FOH. A full 1/3 of the book is her wringing her hands. Shut up already and get on with it.
The obsession with characters being 'good people' is also annoying AF. Your series is Monsters in the Dark? Well show me some real damn monsters or shut it.
