Read Telegraph Club right before this (like, in the same night, read them both in basically one sitting), and honestly A Scatter of Light fell very flat for me in comparison. I might be outgrowing YA contemporary romances or it might just be
fresh out of HS Aria having sex with the love interest, who is already in a relationship and also at least 3 years older than her, in her grandmother's house, WHILE HER GRANDMA IS IN THE HOSPITAL after a stroke?
Joan was my favorite character by far. Analemma gets second place because dogs are perfect. But yeah, I just didn't really like the love interest... or the love interest's group.... or Aria's high school friends.... or the mom.... or, like, even Aria, all that much.

I appreciated the references to other queer media, the true-to-2013 descriptions, and (strangely) the closure for Telegraph Club characters.
