The Ghost Brigades by John Scalzi
5.0

This is a really excellent series, enhanced by listening to it with William Dufris narrating. I immediately began listening to this after finishing book one, Old Man's War, last week. I really felt the need to find what was going to happen next. It is a series, but this one changes main character focus by introducing a new one. There are a few folks from the previous book, Ghost Brigade soldier Jane Sagan is a bridge between the two books. The new main character is a Ghost Brigade created experiment Jared Dirac. He is the hope of finding a traitor to the Colonial Defense.
Last book was about the 75-year-olds getting new bodies for the Colonial Defense. This book shows the Ghost Brigade side of the CDF and how they are created and groomed for constant war.
The other aspect is more about the other entities who also populate this universe. War bringers, snobs, defenders, all sorts.
Morality and ethics abound. What gives the CDF the right to create soldiers from DNA from volunteers who died before they could join the regular CDF? These are the Ghost Brigade/Special Ops.
There is quite a bit going on here and I enjoyed all of it. I am looking forward to the next in the series and everything else John Scalzi writes.
I can definitely recommend this book, series and author.
