Days of Blood & Starlight
by Laini Taylor
It's undeniable that Zuzana is the most loveable character in this series. Each and every one of her chapters was just so fun. I love her sassiness and her relationship with Mik. I find their interactions more likeable - and realistic - than the romance (or whatewer it is now) between Karou and Akiva.
The prose was so beautifully written. I also liked the overall storytelling, but some of the jumping back and forth in time was quite disorienting. I also finally got used to the flashbacks There was so many different side characters with their own POVs, some of them were interesting, some of them I didn't care about.
I aso felt like, depite the breathtaking prose and other great things about this series - not that much happened in this book. Some parts were intriguing - the beginning and the end - but some were a bit stretched - somewhere along the middle.
I liked more or less all the characters. Though since Karou and Akiva weren't together almost at all in this one I still lack the connection to the romance.
I also really liked how this series is pretty morally grey at times. The seraphim- the angels - are not good, the chimaera - the monsters - are not evil. No race is good or bad, only individuals can be. The world buidling was imaginative and intruguing. Going ot read the last book asap to know how it all ends.

and the fact that Karou is Madrigal. I like that she did struggle somewhat with it in this book and that Karou was still herself.I aso felt like, depite the breathtaking prose and other great things about this series - not that much happened in this book.
