The idea is fun enough and the book itself is fun too. What isn't fun are the numerous prejudices the author utilizes. Reading this book, I couldn't help myself but be annoyed and frustrated with the frequent (and completely unnecessary) misogyny and racism. The main character also frequently makes fun of things he deems progressive, like veganism.
Whereas I get including themes like this in a book to illustrate character flaws, this did not feel intentional in such a way and there is no reflection or character growth in relation to those issues whatsoever. What a let-down when the idea itself was great.
