Girl Against the Universe by Paula Stokes

❝I had created something good in the aftermath of tragedy. Maybe I was wrong about the never knowing. Maybe you do get your answers, at least some of them, if you’re patient.❞

I started this book looking for a realistic recovery journey and this is exactly what I got.

After a series of tragic events that leave the people around her injured or dead Maguire is convinced that she is bad luck. Therefore, she proceeds to isolate herself in order to prevent accidents from happening again.

Tired of not being able to control the universe and encouraged by her new therapist, she decides to try and take back something that the universe took from her.

This book highlights how mental health impacts a person's daily life, but also how asking for help and surrounding yourself with people that encourage you can change your life.

As Maguire came to learn the road to recovery is not an easy one and it has no expiration date. However, it's a road worth exploring.
