I really wish that I liked this more. It just felt like it dragged on. At the beginning, I felt like this was the perfect book for gifted kids, but it didn't hold my attention. I also didn't love how Quentin/the narrator spoke about women. The blurb described this as a blend of Narnia and Harry Potter, and I agree with that ... but I didn't enjoy Narnia. For some reason, it just felt mundane even though interesting things were happening. It made me feel very apathetic and I'm not sure if that was the product of really good writing because I felt how Quentin was feeling or if I just wasn't engaged in the story lol.
