Screaming, crying, throwing up!!

Well, I had forgotten all the awfulness of this book (meaning, the awful things that happen) and was not prepared at all, which is why it took so long to finish.
When I read the chapter where Andrew is raped, I was about to sleep, forgot that's what it was, and felt so sad and angry that I forgot to annotate it, it took me a while to work up the courage to pick it up again. And when I did, and finished the book, I had also forgotten how truly awful Riko was...

This book is so good at destroying you, and while all these awful things happen, it is truly the book where the foxes become a family in Neil's eyes, where he goes to great lengths to protect them, but above all else, to protect Andrew.

These boys aren't even together at this point, they haven't kissed or anything, yet Neil, my oblivious silly son, goes insane when he realizes Andrew is in danger, and he risks his life, him, the boy who runs and lies, to save him. At this point, he's probably the only one who is still oblivious to the fact that he has feelings for Andrew.

But also, can we talk about the twinyards moments, of Aaron and Andrew caring so much about each other, even though they pretend otherwise?

Being reminded of how terrible Riko is, and wanting to hold Kevin so tight, thinking of all the abuse and trauma he went through, thinking of his recurrent panic attacks, his shitty coping mechanisms and wanting to hold his hand and offer him kindness...

“[Neil] was their family. They were his. They were worth every cut and bruise and scream.”
