What You Did by Claire McGowan
3.0

Maybe I’ve read too many books that are like this but as I was reading I felt like it ticked off the boxes of books people like to read: Friends get together 20 years after college graduation - check; people drink too much and behave badly - check. Teens and parents unable to talk about important things - check. A violent crime is committed - but who really did it - check. A past crime may have links to the current crime - check. Someone is in a coma and they have information that is desperately needed - check. The group (especially the women) all are a little desperate and the men are all insecure. Should Ali believe Karen her best friend - who accuses Ali’s husband Mike of rape - or should Ali believe her husband who says he didn’t rape Karen. And didn’t she her daughter outside that night when she was supposed to be in her room sleeping? Jodi and Cal are expecting a baby after all these years - but Jodi had gone to bed and Cal was passed out in the living room. And Bill says he didn’t see anything but he is sticking around t help out and even though he’s unattached right now - didn’t he and Ali used to have an attraction. I’ll admit that the end is nicely creepy - and I wished that the rest of the book had more of that. But perhaps in McGowans next book.
