I didn’t enjoy this one as much as the other Jeneva Rose book I’ve read, but I still finished it. This author does a decent job at working through a twist, but the set-up consistently drags. The conversation around addiction was, at first, a genuine attempt at sincerity but then became rather ham-fisted. As a SE WI girl myself, I do know the area around Allen’s Grove, but while it was fun to have that kind of localized setting, there were also points where I went “ok, we get it, that is the real bar and the real highway and the real overpass.” So… overall, a fine bedtime read for a few days, but I’m not convinced I’ll come back to this author.
