Defy the Stars
by Claudia Gray
3.5 stars
I thought this was pretty good. I liked the premise of a mech coming into full sentience and personhood. Abel's development is portrayed reasonably well here, and Noemi ended up being a more interesting character than I thought she would be at the outset. The story had a good pace and things unfolded nicely.
I've read several books by Claudia Gray and I generally enjoy them, but I do find her writing just a tiny bit flat for my taste. However, she does make up for that with fairly engaging if unchallenging storytelling, and this book is no exception. I'm hooked enough to read the next book in the series as planned.
