If rape, sexual assault, and victim blaming are topics that are tough for you to read, this may not be the book for you. The event that drives the present timeline is a rape trial in a small, North Carolina beach town. This trial brings a true crime podcaster to town to cover it. While she's in town covering the trial, she gets roped into investigating the death of a teenage girl from 25 years ago. The only part of this timeline that packs a punch is who "murdered" Jenny. The podcast was engaging, and the tagline Rachel uses is punchy and memorable. The most thought-provoking questions Rachel poses to her listeners are ones about why society places more of a burden on victims of sexual crimes to prove that their claims are true.
