Sherlock Holmes stories will always be classics, but this collection is clearly the weakest of the series. It is obvious in the detail and intrigue (or lack thereof) in the short tales that the author had already given up on Holmes, and had little enthusiasm left for creating wholly engaging plots. These ones were less enjoyable, mostly because they were short and easily predicted.
