Pitched by Ella Goode
emotional
hopeful
lighthearted
sad
medium-paced
4.5
No strong representations of diverse characters or minority identities.
The only reason Pitched isn’t 5-stars is because of the Hero’s, Colt, behaviour when he first met the Heroine, GG, and I wanted a more involved epilogue.
To expand on Colt’s behaviour, he was the typically OTT alpha Hero but given GG’s past, it came across as quite jarring and sketchy. Also, I really didn’t appreciate how his possessiveness resulted in her being treated like an outcast — it suggested Colt wasn’t really concerned with GG’s feelings. However, GG calls Colt out and he apologizes and makes up for his repeated blunders.
The romance was really cute and the plot was compelling with the loose ends and threats from GG’s past.
Safety Rating: Safe with Exceptions
• No cheating
• No OM drama
• Kind of has OW drama
— the Heroine’s only friend has an unrequited crush on the Hero which creates some drama.
• Does have the Hero pushing the Heroine away
• No separation
Possible Triggers: Yes
• Heroine was rescued from a cult
• Kidnapping
• Reference to child brides
• Child abuse
• Parental abandonment
• Heroine’s father died when she was young
• Hero’s mother is an alcoholic
Ending:HEA
