I wanted to love this book but at best, for me, it was okay. I didn't hate it, but again -- it's only this reader's opinion, it simply had too many plot points and character actions that were unrealistic/unbelievable for me and those moments pulled me out of the story.
I want to be immersed when I read. I want to forget the world around me and be so into the story, empathizing with the characters or having my blood boil because the bad guy is just so horrid. Unfortunately, The Finalists didn't do that for me. However, it did hold my interest enough that I read through to the ending. A different reader may certainly love it way more than me, so read the blurb and check it out for yourself.
