I love the magical realism. It has everything that makes this a cozy read like; magic, 300 year old bird, small town on an island, and having a strong family bond. There was great representation of the Lgbtq in many of the characters. I enjoyed the first half of the story.

I wish we could learn more about Harrison, Vira, and Prue because as side characters, played such a big role. Also I understand the significance for the climax part but wish there was another reason as to why things went south. I wasn't expecting it. Then the ending felt rush and too short. Everything was tied in a nice bow. We didn't get a chance to see how many of the relationships between the characters resolved in the end like Georgina and Prue or Georgina and Mary.

Be careful reading some of the reviews before reading the book. I'm glad I didn't look at them because many people were spoiling it. If you know you know.
