this is probably more of a 4.5 because Lee Welch's writing is sometimes rough around the edges, but I love her romances. they have everything I want - magic, rough, distinct but loveable characters, cosy fantasy historical worlds and charming plots and side characters. she writes a great sex scene but this one is definitely quite heavy on dom/sub so if that's not your thing it's not going to work for you. there's a lot of horse stuff in here and im not really a horse girl so it got a bit heavy for me however I loved how it shaped Fen's character so I could look past that. wish she had more books ill be reading everything she has.
