Khrushchev: The Man and His Era by William Taubman
5.0
As far as biographies go, you won’t find one more well-written and we’ll-researched than this one. Khrushchev was a fascinating character, and by focusing on his person and psychological state, Taubman paints a true portrait of an extremely complex historical figure in the context of the turbulent events surrounding his life, some of which he caused himself. This biography manages to fit in an immense amount of information while keeping the story moving and the reader, even one like me who knows generally how things turn out, on the edge of their seat.
