The Takedown
by Carlie Walker
CIA field officer Sydney has her most complicated assignment yet. The FBI has tapped her to help bring down a massive organized crime dynasty, led by Johnny Jones. The catch? Johnny just happens to be engaged to her little sister. As Sydney travels to spend the holidays with her family, to include Johnny and some of the people, she has until Christmas to get the evidence the FBI needs to take him down so she can stop her sister’s wedding. What she doesn’t plan for is her attraction to Nick, Johnny’s bodyguard who is also staying at her family’s house.
It’s been a while since I finished a book and thought this will definitely end up on my top books of the year list, and that is exactly how I felt after finishing The Takedown. This book has a fun and unique premise and truly has it all - a bit of mystery, a pinch of action and adventure, a lot of laugh out loud moments, and a steamy romance. In many ways, this book is unlike anything I’ve read before and I loved every moment of it!
Thank you to Berkley Publishing and NetGalley for the advance copy. And thank you to @berittalksbooks for hosting the buddy read! #BerkleyBuddyReads #BerkleyWritesStrongWomen
