The internalized fatphobia and misogyny with both main characters made this book insufferable. I appreciate that the author is trying to bring size inclusivity to romance, but this isn’t the way to do that. Fat women can be confident in their bodies and like who they are. Traditionally attractive men can be attracted to fat women without having to internally justify it. There can be conflict in a romance without it stemming from the fatness of a main character. The author is trying to do something different in the genre, but instead, she falls into the same tired, demeaning cliches about fat women and the thin men who love them against their will.
Do yourselves a favor and skip this one. Might I recommend Olivia Dade or Talia Hibbert; these are authors who treat fat women like actual women and not caricatures.
