This book is an unexpected fairy tale romance that will make you swoon, laugh, and feel with the characters. The story had some surprises, a weird love triangle, and of course, a Princess with her issues. I love how the author incorporated decisions, heartbreak, and duty into the story. The best part is that the story comes full circle, and your confusion gets cleared up by the end. I love how the author also incorporated positive self-confidence into her struggling characters as we watch them become braver, kinder, and strive to be better people. Which man did she choose?
This book starts with the fairy tale as we all know it and the keywords Once Upon a time. We begin in a sweet childhood moment we can all relate to with storytelling at bedtime, daddy telling a story to his princess Ava.
Then we jump to a letter; it seems to be her mother writing to her father, but this is their story. Serafina is known as the ice princess, who would blame her with the weight of a country soon on her shoulders. We get Rafes pov, the bad-boy duke who knows his way around women but only has eyes for the ice princess. Prince Callum is intriguing; not sure what to say about him as we don't have his point of view.
Serafina's world and heart are shattered by an unexpected obstacle in her perfectly planned path. I like Kat. Her personality is funny and feisty. Callum is an idol, but at least we get somewhat explanation of his actions. I don't know why we flashback to the Maldives or what the point of it was. This book brings more drama and a weird love triangle thing going.
Rafe has been a surprising enigma in this storyline. It seems Serafina has to decide between love and duty, but why can't she have both. It seems the author surprises us with a switch in her feelings that does give her both. But can they get out of their heads long enough to tell each other the truth?
This book comes full circle and has a happy ending that ties the characters back to the prologue, but I won't ruin which man she chooses for you. You'll have to read this clean romance yourself.
