🧚BOOK REVIEW🧚

Holly Darling is the granddaughter of Wendy Darling. Yes, THAT Wendy, and indeed the stories are in fact true, Neverland and all that. Well… maybe not in the exact way that Mr. Barrie wrote them. Today Holly resides in Manhattan, runs a skincare company and mothers her teenage son Jack.  When Holly receives news that her daughter who lives back in England has disappeared, she must travel back to London to find her. On her journey to track down her daughter Holly must confront the trauma of her own past, and discover what really happened to her grandmother all those years ago in Neverland.

Inside this book… 📚
🧚Elements of sci-fi, fantasy and a little bit of thriller sprinkled in. 🧪✨
🧚Fast paced 💨
🧚Complicated family dynamics
🧚Twists 🌪
🧚Flashbacks
🧚Trigger Warning ⚠️ (this is super important, more details at the bottom)

As a child, the story of Peter Pan, with all the pixie dust and mermaids seems incredibly magical. However reflecting on it through an adult lens, I find it almost impossible to see Peter Pan as a true hero. I mean does anyone else get creep vibes from Peter? Darling Girl put a very dark twist on the the original story of Peter Pan, and it honestly seemed fitting. This book kept me up late every night until I completed it. When I wasn’t reading it, I was thinking about it. This is not your classic fairy tale… it’s intense, devastating, and enchanting.
